In December 2022, at the age of 50, my Aunt Aimee was suddenly diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor called glioblastoma. After enduring surgeries, radiation, chemotherapy, and an incredible amount of strength and courage, she passed away on January 1, 2024.
Aimee Lynn McLane was the best Aunt and Godmother I could have ever asked for. She was also an incredible wife, mom, sister, daughter, friend, and teacher. Married to Matt McLane, Aimee was a devoted special education teacher in the Plattsburgh City School District and took immense pride in supporting her children, Emily and Shawn, in their swimming and hockey events. Many of my favorite childhood memories include family vacations with her, showing cows and pigs at the county fair, and simply being around her infectious smile and laughter—something we will always remember.
Though I miss her deeply, I want to honor her memory by supporting the fight against this devastating disease. Glioblastoma is aggressive and difficult to treat, and unfortunately, very little is known about its causes or how to effectively cure it. That’s why I’m asking for your help.
I’ll be running the Lake Placid Marathon on June 8th to raise both awareness and funds for glioblastoma research. Every dollar counts in the effort to help future patients and families facing this diagnosis.
Thank you for supporting this cause that means so much to me and my family. #MilesforMcLane
